Academy Sponsorship Opportunties

The Opportunity

Basingstoke Town FC and it’s Academy offers local and national organisations a fantastic platform to raise awareness about products and services. We operate and manage our own club website and social media (SoMe) outlets, as well as an onsite clubhouse – here is the kind of reach we can offer our sponsors.

About the Academy

Basingstoke Town F.C launched a full time football academy in 2012, we started the first year with 16 students/players and now boast one of the most successful academies in the area with just under 60 students/players full time. We previously worked closely with local colleges in developing football players around their studies, we found this difficult based at separate sites and working around different colleges variable timetables so we decided to introduce an academy where players/students can train and study together with a timetable that enables them to all be available at the same time. This allowed us to focus on full time football training to get the best from the players abilities with first class UEFA ‘A’ licensed coaches, whilst at the same time allowing us to focus equally on the players education.

We offer different education courses that cater for different academic abilities and levels of learning. Supported by SCL (our education providers) we can offer courses that will enable students to enter employment, progress to higher educational courses (university), opportunities in coaching and playing in America or gaining apprenticeships in the sport and recreation sector.

We are also very fortunate to be able to boast of successes in football, as a result of expert coaching we have produced players that have progressed from our academy to play professional football, semi professional football and earn full time playing contracts with our own first team.

Success Stories

Joe McDonnell spent two years in our academy and was then signed by AFC Wimbledon, he is regularly in the squad in League One of the English Football league.

Last year we signed three players from our academy on full time professional contracts, George Hallahan, George Bennett and Aaron Jarvis, with the latter two – Bennett and Jarvis – now integral members of our first team and have very bright futures ahead of them.

Kieran Greene spent two years in the academy and went on to spend a years apprenticeship with our community department and is now also an important member of the first team.

David Ray (bottom right) our current first team captain started in our academy and is now approaching nearly 400 appearances. As a result of our education courses we have placed several students in full time employment in gyms, coaching companies and various other jobs in the sector. We have numerous students that have gone onto further education in this country and in America.

The Future

We have grown our academy over the last few years to a level where unless we can improve our current facilities we may have to limit the numbers of students/players we can offer this opportunity to in the future.

We find ourselves striving to improve and to be able to offer this opportunity to not only male students but females too. We would love to open up the academy to budding female footballers and give them the same chance. The offer of full time football training alongside full time education is not something that is currently available to them.

Our Vision

Our vision is to increase the number of local players (George Bennett as an example) playing in our
first team and give them the opportunity to play as high as they possibly can, to introduce ladies football to our academy and grow this as equal opportunities to what their counterparts are already exposed to. For those players that don’t succeed as footballers we will provide them a ‘plan b’, the
opportunities to seek further education or employment as a result of the education courses we provide.

Improvements

To be able to introduce females to the fantastic opportunities available we need to improve our current facilities. We are searching for sponsorship to help us secure additional classrooms, we have researched portable classrooms and equipment to allow extra students and obviously the spec of
the classroom varies considerably.

We have looked at equipment to kit out the classrooms with the relevant equipment to allow the students to complete their work. We will be looking to add to the equipment we currently have to continue to produce the high standard of coaching players are used to. We strongly believe that we have some excellent coaches within the team and with the correct tools available to them we will give the players the best chance to fulfil their dreams.

We are also in need of a minibus to transport the players to and from away games and community activities they are regularly involved in, previously our academy players have taken part in community activities such as preparing and cooking food for the elderly, sponsored events to raise money for local charities and visited local organisations within the community with Christmas presents.
