Club supports local business 5-a-side Tournament

For Eni Engineering E&P Ltd (formally Snamprogetti) based on Basing View, this year marks 110 years since the birth of the founder of Eni. To commemorate Enrico Mattei’s birthday, a group of Eni SpA employees working in Basingstoke, organised a non-profit tournament with aim to bring together all the people working under Eni company. All money generated by the tournament will go to the ‘Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei (FEEM) Charity’.

With the first game taking place on 26th September 2016, eight 7-a-side teams from the Basingstoke office have competed in a league and play-off format tournament. The final took place at Everest College on Sunday 4th December. As a truly global company, teams have been represented from all corners of the globe, coming together to play here in Basingstoke.

As a way of thanks to the organiser of the tournament, Ramiz Mammadov – an Azerbaijan national working in Basingstoke – both finalist teams presented Mr Mammadov with a signed and framed Basingstoke Town FC replica shirt, for him to show-off around the world to the various countries his role takes him, and with it, sharing the Basingstoke Town FC colours.

Will Wilkinson – Head of Digital and Marketing and Basingstoke Town FC said:

It’s great to be able to support such a large and successful company, with a strong presence in the town, by giving a small token from the club to recognise Mr Mammadov’s efforts in organising the event. We hope he can show it off proudly on his travels and that it brings back fond memories every time he does so.

Would be nice if they could also financially help the club – according to a Pitchero article the Town are prepared to drop to combined Counties or Wessex League level soon?
