Chris Tardif

Goalkeeper Chris first joined us in December 2007 after he retired from professional football in September '07. He previously played for Porstmouth and Oxford United as well as having loan spells with Bournemouth, Newport IoW and Havant & Waterlooville.

Chris found some excellent form in his short time with the club and made a name for himself due to his consistent penalty saving. However, in March 2008 Chris was released due to the financial problems at the club and he joined Maidenhead United.

He re-joined 'Stoke in June 2010.

Lee Allen

Former Youth Team Goalkeeper, also made several appearances for the Reserves during 2009/10, before joining the First Team Bench towards the end of the Season

Robbie Rice

Right back Robbie was released by Wycombe Wanderers at the end of the 2008/09 season after he was not offered a new deal. He made a handful of appearances for their first team.

Robbie had a successful first season at The Camrose, being a regular in the first team and even captaining the side on a number of occasions. He ended the season by being awarded the Away Fans Player of the Season award.

He has recently signed a one year contract extension to remain at The Camrose next season.

Ross Adams

Former Chippenham captain Ross followed in the footsteps of David Pratt the year before him by making the move from The Bluebirds to The Dragons.

He started his career with West Bromwich Albion and has also feature for Hednesford Town and Eastwood Town. The centre back has played for Chippenham since 2005.

Jay Gasson

Left back Jay signed for Basingstoke in summer 2010 from Havant & Waterlooville. He previously played under Frank Gray at Woking, with his former boss attempting to bring him to the Camrose last summer after he left the Cards.

He has also played for Farnborough Town.

Matt Finlay

Matt joined Basingstoke from Bashley in the summer of 2009. He can play in the middle of midfield or anywhere down the left flank. He was previously with AFC Bournemouth and Salisbury City.

Sean Hankin

Sean started his career as an apprentice at Crystal Palace and turned professional in 1999. He made one sub appearance for the club but failed to make a real impact.

He was loaned out to Torquay in 2001 which soon became permanent. He made over 40 appearances for the Gulls but injury cut his time there short.

Sean then had spells with Margate, Northwich Victoria, Crawley Town, Lewes and St. Albans City after which he joined Farnborough Town in 2005 and remained at the club until they folded in 2007 when he joined Basingstoke.

Sean made the decision to stay at The Camrose for the 2008/09 season and he instantly became a first team regular playing at center back, left back and defensive midfield (sometimes all at once!). He was named as Away Fans Player of the Season 08/09.

Steve Laidler

Steve started his career at the Reading youth academy but was released in 2003. He signed for us in June 2003 but was released in October after failing to impress.

He then signed for Farnborough Town but failed to make an impact there too and eventually joined Dorking in January 2004. 

He rejoined Farnborough Town at the start of the 2005/06 season and became one of the top players at Cherrywood Road. He left after the club folded in May 2007 and rejoined Basingstoke after turning down professional contracts in the Conference National due to work commitments.

Steve started life very brightly at The Camrose but his appearances were limited to 30 due to a knee injury mid way through the season.

In May 2008 he left The Camrose and joined new club Farnborough FC. After just one season back at Farnborough, he was deemed surplus to requirements by new boss Steve King and rejoined us on a one month loan.

After finally being released by Farnborough, Steve has put pen to paper on a contract until the end of the 2009/10 season and will remain at the club for 2010/11.

Tom Williamson

Tom Williamson started his career at Leicester City as a trainee but he went on to make just one appearance for them. He signed for Grays Athletic in 2005 and played just over 30 games including a period when Frank Gray was manager there.He was released at the start of the 2007/08 season and moved to Bishops Stortford.

He signed for Basingstoke Town in July 2008 where he linked up with former boss Frank Gray. Willo established himself as a regular in the middle of midfield and played over forty games, also earning a stay into the 2009/10 season. He added another 40 appearances to his 'Stoke record and also got his first goals.

He has recently signed a one year contract extension.

Stuart Lake

Stuart is a midfielder who has signed for Basingstoke from Hampton & Richmond. He made over 100 appearances for Hampton, having joined them in 2007 from Ashford Town.

Matt Warner

Matt started his career at Wycombe Wanderers and was sent to Basingstoke on a work experience loan in October 2003 when he made a handful of appearances.

After leaving Wycombe, Matt joined Team Bath while at university, but soon came back to Hampshire and signed for Farnborough. He spent one season at the club before joining Basingstoke in Summer 2006.

Matt had a terrific first season for the club and scored the goal that defeated League One Chesterfield in the FA Cup. He was also named Away Fans Player of the Season.

The skilful winger also had a good second season for the club despite an injury making him miss a number of games mid way through the year.

Matt returned to fitness for the majority of 2008/09 and missed just ten games, generating plenty more goals from left midfield. The 2009/10 season saw another lengthy lay-out, but an operation on his troublesome knee should mean an end to the problem. He ended the season in good form and has re-signed for the 2010/11 season.

He is currently the clubs longest-serving player.

Matt Pattison

Right midfielder Matt has joined Basingstoke following his release from Rushden & Diamonds.

He has also previously played for Woking and Farnborough Town.

Jide Ogunbote

Jide joined the club having trialled in pre-season of 2008. He had previously been with Frank Gray at Woking. The young midfielder was in the first team squad for nearly every game during his first season at The Camrose and made almost 25 appearances.

This has seen Jide establish himself as a key first team player.

Gary Frewen

Teenage midfielder Gary joined the club following his release from Reading in summer 2009. He is a tricky left winger with pace to burn. Also a former Irish Youth International.

Nathan Smart

Nathan joined Basingstoke in summer 2010 from Fleet Town. He can play anywhere on the right side, as well as in the middle of midfield.

David Pratt

David Pratt is a striker who signed for Basingstoke at the start of 2009/10. Pratt had previously been with Swindon Supermarine & Chippenham Town where he scored 80 goals in 133 games for both clubs.

David had a good first season at the Camrose, scoring ten goals. He was awarded the Fans & Managers Player of the Season awards for his efforts and recently signed a contract for the 2010/11 season.

Greg Draper

Greg is a young striker who has recently signed a one-year deal at The Camrose.

He has one international cap for New Zealand and has also competed internationally at under 17's, 20's and 23's level.

He has previously played for clubs including Canterbury United and Team Wellington in New Zealand, Melbourne Knights in Australia and Wellington Phoenix, a Kiwi club who compete in Australia.

Ross Montague

Ross first spent time at The Camrose on loan from Brentford during the 2008/09 season. After a bright start to his spell, a knee injury meant he had to return to his parent club early.

He spent 2009/10 in the Conference at AFC Wimbledon and returned to The Camrose for 10/11.

A Recurrance of his knee injury in pre-season has meant Ross has recently had an operation on his knee and will be out of the game for the foreseeable future.

Long Term Injury

Jahson Downes

Jahson joined Basingstoke in summer 2009 after being released by Reading. The teenager can play in both wide midfield and attack.

He spent the end of the 2008/09 season at Bognor, where he scored an impressive seven goals in nineteen appearances for The Rocks.

He has recently signed a one year contract extension to remain at the club for the 2010/11 season.

Grant Powell

Grant is a young midfielder who has worked his way up through the ranks at Basingstoke. He appeared on the first team bench for the FA Cup games against Brackley Town and Eastleigh and made his debut in the Hampshire Cup at AFC Porchester.

He made a few other appearances from the bench and is one for the future at The Camrose.

Frank Gray

Frank is a former Scotland international left-back who won 32 caps for his country. He even played all of Scotland's games at the 1982 World Cup. He played for Leeds United, Sunderland, Nottingham Forest and Darlington during his club playing career.

He played in two European Cup finals, lifting the trophy once for Nottingham Forest. He also featured in a League Cup final for Forest. Managers he has played under include Brian Clough, Don Revie and even his brother, Leeds United legend Eddie Gray.

Frank's son Andrew is a current professional footballer. He has represented Leeds, Nottingham Forest, Sunderland, Bradford, Sheffield United, Burnley and Charlton during his career, amongst others. Frank's nephew has also played for Celtic, Reading, Rushden & Diamonds and Oxford United.

Frank's managerial career started in the early 90's when he took over as Darlington manager from Brian Little, to whom he was previously assistant. However, he lasted less than one season.

He didn't manage again until 2005 when he took over as manager of Farnborough Town. Frank was at the club for one season and he guided them to the Conference South play-offs. He had short stints at Grays Athletic and Woking before becoming Basingstoke Town manager in May 2008.

Gerry Murphy

Gerry is a well-respected coach who joined the Club in May 08 along with Frank Gray. He spent 6 years coaching at Fulham before moving into the non-league game with Farnborough, Grays and Woking.

Jason Bristow

Jason joined Basingstoke from Reading in 1999 where he was captain of the reserve side.

He made his debut in a 3-1 league cup win against Walton & Hersham and went on to make over 350 appearances for the club, a figure which would have been higher but for a knee injury which kept Jase out for all of the 2002/03 season and eventually forced him into early retirement in March 2009 at the age of just 28.

The big defender won the Fans Player Of The Season award on three seperate occasions (2001/02, 2003/04 and 2005/06) as well as the Away Fans Player Of The Season for the 2007/08 season.

Jason was known as Mr. Basingstoke due to the commitment he showed to the club on and off the pitch time and time again. As well as playing for the side, he has also been Football In The Community officer since 2006, a position which he still holds today. He works full time from The Camrose.

Upon his retirement, Jason was asked about moving into management by the Basingstoke Gazette. He said, 'I have got my coaching badges and that is something I would like to go into'. He went on, 'I need to get my foot in the door, whether that be here or elsewhere but if I had to go away, my goal would be to come back here (to BTFC) and manage'.

2009/10 was Jason's testimonial Season.

Stokie The Dragon

Joined the Club in 2006/7 season, when BTFC adopted the name "The Dragons", to add a bit more "fire" power to the squad.

A very popular addition for our younger fans, Stokie is a very busy dragon, who appears not only at home games, but at other events the Club take part in, such as "Balloons over Basingstoke". Stokie has appeared on local and national news, as well as SKY, taking part in the British Mascot Grand National.
