Grassroots Football

Introduction

Basingstoke Town FC are proud to be able to offer a new youth team structure to the community, giving kids within the local area a unique modern football development opportunity. Coached by a very experienced team of varying FA qualified personnel, who deliver sessions that both challenge and embrace children’s enjoyment of the game they all watch and play on FIFA.

This new grassroots set-up is directly linked to Basingstoke Town Football Club, the same as our ‘Saturday Soccer, Junior Premier League (JPL), Academy and U21s. Children will train on the same ground, play on the same pitches and wear the same club colours and badge – this provides our young players the chance to challenge themselves, improving and developing their abilities, in order to make the next step in the Basingstoke Town FC Journey.

Initial Approach (U11s)

BTFC are now accepting all ages from U7s to U11s however, as this is a new initiative, we will roll it out in a phased approach. That is to say that we will be entering one age group (U11s) into the Peter Houseman Youth League to start with, from September 2017, with the team’s home games being played at Everest Community College. From here we will continue to accept mixed aged groups for training, with a view to enter more teams into relevant leagues over the coming months and with friendlies and end of season tournaments being played whenever possible.

Benefits

The benefits of joining our set-up are plenty. From getting the opportunity to showcase footballing abilities, with the aim of progressing through to the JPL side, to then create a journey towards the men’s First Team. At Basingstoke Town FC, scouts are no rare thing – over the seasons, the youth set-up has seen many scouts from clubs such as Southampton FC, Chelsea FC, AFC Bournemouth, Fulham FC and Queens Park Rangers – with the goal being for these players to realise their ultimate dream, of playing football at a professional level.
